That piece was quite loud, yes. There was a familiar movement - the
March - but yeah, quite dissonant.

I've been surprised by a few modern pieces - Gabriel Prokofiev's piece
made heavy use of syncopation, but it wasn't just loud. It was pretty
nuanced, if highly complex.
I was very surprised last year by Giya Kancheli's Nu.Mu.Zu. - we saw a
premiere performance of that as well, and it was incredible.

That recording was made from our performance, as I recall - but it does
lose something when listening to a recorded version. The most intense
parts, actually, were the completely silent parts.

I suspect that those would be the bits that Stephen would appreciate ;-)

'In Gloucester Cathedral on Saturday night ...'

It was quite literally a case of "deafening silence". You could've heard
a pin drop in that concert hall, and it was full of people.

Rule 5434 sub-para 49876:
No player shall take the piss by nominating entire continents ...
You owe us all a round of drinks, and don't forget to give Samantha one.

How did you miss the fine print on that rule? I see you've now made a
move, so I must now return and make mine. :)
