Snow is bad but cold, wet and windy can make life miserable too.

I've only been in Huston in the hot, humid summer. :-)

I understand. Sometimes it is just too inconvenient to do the green thing.

Well I've been accused of being more left wing than Fidel Castro, in
this newsgroup. You are in good company. :)

Only if it is in a 20 oz pint pot not one of your 16 oz short measures.

There's a few local pubs that serve "proper" pints around here.

Funny story: Friend of mine who lives near Stratford was over visiting
in Atlanta (tech conference), and there's a pub in the CNN Center (<---
just for me, and because that's how they spell it ;) ) called "Reggie's
British Pub" (looks like it might still be there, in fact).

Dave likes a drink now and then, and they have Guinness - which is first
choice - so we went in and grabbed a table.

The server came over and took our order, and he asked for a pint of
Guinness. She wrote it down and said "small pint or a large pint?" -
which got her a puzzled stare followed by "a *pint*, please".

I think from the accent she picked up that there really was only *one*
proper pint as far as he was concerned. ;)

Going there was a regular thing for a few years, and they remembered us -
and even ordered in extra Guinness knowing that we'd be there that
particular week. :)

I'll tell my friend Pete - who is - that you said that. ;)

True, I had enough of that. Cold doesn't actually really happen here,
either, though.

Me too. Didn't really care for it.

Or at least too inconvenient to plan to do the green thing.

Heh. I've had similar accusations leveled at me. I moderate a closed
political discussion group, and while I tend to be fairly "left", it's
always interesting when a right-winger gets out of line and I put my
moderator hat on and moderate (because we don't want "food fight"
political discussions, we want "civil" discussions - comes from the group
name), and I have been accused of being authoritarian and of abusing my
moderator power by some whom I've moderated.

Except I moderate people whose politics I more closely align with just as
much. Because when it comes down to it, when you call someone a
shithead, it doesn't matter what political persuasion you are, it's not a
*civil* debating tactic, and whether I agree with your politics or not,
when I'm moderating, I'm going to moderate.

It got darker for a second. I almost thought it was Dara O'Briain. ;)

Surely you can plan when to plan. Remember it is better to plant green
things by the light of a new moon.

Yeah! moderating can be a thankless task.
