hi,
i want to create a scene in a stone-desert.
it should look like chris hormann did it here:
http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~y0013390/pov/pict/the_eye.jpg

i want a sand-stone-tex.

i attached a pic to show how far i am now.

images.binary or just provide a link to the image on a website (as you did with
Chris's).

If you're just after the texture, I would suggest emailing Chris directly or
posting a "Hey Chris" message to povray.general and see if he'll send you the
texture(s). If you want to model a similiar scene in every detail, then I
suggest you ask if he can lend you his brain.... (but you might alternatively
want to start reading about iso-surfaces in the docs ;)

The texture in that scene is nothing special, it's either a plain color 
pigment or a large scale agate pattern with a simple diffuse finish.

The fancy part of this scene only the geometry - creating this is quite 
difficult and rendering requires a lot of patience.  This does not mean 
you should not try it - basic isosurface techniques are described in the 
docs and if you can read german ;-) you can find a detailed tutorial in 
c't magazine, issue 20/03.

ok, so no texture, just isosurfaces?
so, say i have a main isosurfaces that gives me some little mountains 
etc. and i have a very small detailed one, that should simulate the 
roughness of the ground. how do i multiply them?

I don't really understand - you can't combine isosurfaces, you can only 
combine functions.  How you can displace a functions with another one is 
described in the docs.

No, you can find the listings for the tutorial on:

http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/03/20/206/

but it won't help much without the text.
