Is there a way to *not* create and leave behind a .povstate on abort? I
never use the +C feature, but I abort lots of renders, leaving behind
this dirt that needs to be occasionally swept up.

The POV-Ray 3.7.1 betas provide a dedicated command-line switch for this
purpose: `-CC` will suppress creation of the state file, thus disabling
abort-continue.

I was about to post a similar question-- having to do with state file(s)
remaining somewhere within a series of animation frames after I've paused and
continued the render several times-- but that seems to have been some kind of
glitch with my computer instead, as I can't reproduce it (which is good!) The
state-file(s) correctly disappear after the animation is complete.
I didn't know about the command-line switch to disable them; that looks to be
useful.

As is clearly documented in the wiki
http://wiki.povray.org/content/Reference:General_Output_Options#Resuming_Options
I should have asked the wiki, instead of google. ;)
