Hi,

I just relocated the folders for the POV-Ray includes, scenes, and ini
files to a new location on a new harddrive, due to space problems on the
previous harddrive. But even after having updated the PVEngine.ini and
Povray.ini with the new drive letter, POV-Ray still gives me an error
message on start that it cannot find color.inc. It also cannot render at
all at the moment, as it still wants to open the Povray.ini file at the
old (and now wrong) location.

How to tell POV-Ray where to find the files now?

That might get done at install?

So rename your folders from filename to _filename (just to make sure) and then
install povray so that your windows registry has all the right values in all the
right places.

Or you could search and edit the registry for povray.

or wait for clipka or a windows guru to chime in.

I fully agree with Bald Eagle. It appears to me that you have /copied/
your files/program to a new HD and the registry settings may be wrong.
Better is to fully /install/ POV-Ray again on the new drive to get the
correct connections of the standard include files at least. It is then a
simple matter to change your povray.ini file in particular.

I did this exercise recently and everything worked immediatly without a
glitch.

Thanks!

I admit, I never knew that POV-Ray uses the Windows registry, therefore
I never looked there. I will check it out, and make changes where
applicable right away! These two answers might have helped me a lot!
Great spirit in this group!

But I also want to see many new POV-Ray users pouring in, how can we
best promote POV-Ray? Would like to open a project about it, and some
serious brainstorming.
