Hello everyone,
I am a new POV-ray user, and juts experienced my firts problem. I used
PseRay together with Pov-Ray 3.5 and the object I used (a Poser figure) did
not receive any diffuse/ambiet light. There were specular spots on the
shoes as well as shadows on the floor, but the figure itself was completely
black.
Can you help me with this one? What can/should I do?
Thank you very much in advance!
Best,
Drone

There is special group dedicated to newusers. This is described at

This is one of the rare cases when Google actually did not help me much.
There are many tutorials, but most of them cover how to work with a
converter (in general terms) without much troubleshooting. I use
extensivelly 3D Stuio Max and Maya and am able to reckognise most of the
problems on my own, yet this is something I thought I'd better ask.
Best,
Drone

None of
http://user.txcyber.com/~sgalls/poserayhelp.htm#HowaboutsomeTipsTutorials
helped ?
BTW: there are simple reasons in POV-Ray SDL why object is dark/black (lack of
pigment, lack of light, lack of object, lack of camera). Have you checked any ?

The only real troubleshooting to do when converting Poser models into
Pov-Ray is to check the validity of the material file created by the
modeller. If your model is completely black (assuming that the model has
been included in a valid POV-Ray scene with proper illumination), it is very
probable that the textures are somewhat wrong. I always edit/rewrite the
material files and keep them separate, with the added benefit that they can
often be reusable.
