Hello,
I wanted to inform the ray tracing community of a change in website
address. My ISP decided to change their domain name from computek to
cmpu. No doubt they have a reasonable explanation; it simply eludes
me. The new address is for the POV-Motif website is:
http://www.cmpu.net/public/wdh/pov_motif
POV-Motif is a UNIX/X/Motif front end application for POV-Ray.
POV-Motif resembles the Windows version of POV-Ray, and brings editing,
POV-Ray command line settings, and POV-Ray rendering into a single user
interface. POV-Motif binaries are statically linked with the Motif
libraries precluding the need for you to have Motif on your system.
POV-Motif binaries are available for Solaris and Linux/x86/ELF. Source
code is also available for download. Of course, POV-Motif is freeware.
Give it a try!

If I want to compile it for Linux 68k I'll face some problems or not?
I.e.: I'll need Motif?

Redaelli,
You will indeed need Motif if you want to port to Linux 68K. I bought
mine from Red Hat for $150 US. I don't know what that is in Lira.
There is a freeware product called Lesstif (www.lesstif.org) that
emulates the Motif API. It isn't finished yet, and failed miserably on
POV-Motif. It also failed to properly run anything of mine but the most
rudimentary applications. Still, that was 9 months ago. It may be
better now.
As for the port to Linux itself, I had little trouble with it.
POV-Motif has been successfully compiled on Solaris, SunOS, HP/UX, and
Linux. Amazing what POSIX/SVR5/X/Motif compliance will do. Getting the
makefile to find everything and supporting the static link were the only
real problems.
If you do manage to get a port, send me the executable so I can post it
on the website.
Thanks for your interest in POV-Motif.
Regards,
