Hi there!

I'm trying to make LEGO bricks. By now, I only made 3001, 3002, 3003, 3007 and
2456 (these numbers can be found under the real bricks).

I used just a magnifying glass and a ruler to measure real bricks. Each POV-unit
is 1/16 inch.

The attached files are:

- l_macros.inc: Contains stud objects, a macro to position them, a macro to
#include the bricks, and shortcuts to rotate and translate bricks.
- pyramid.inc: a simple LEGO pyramid
- 3001.inc: brick 2x4
- 3003.inc: brick 2x2
- test.pov: the file used to make all the test renders

Hi!
if your doing this just to make the pieces, more power to you!
but if your doing it to build Lego models in pov-ray you might want to look
here:
http://www.antonraves.com/lego.html

I found that a while back during a foray into the online lego
comunity(www.lugnet.com).

Tip. To enable easy placement and building, you might want to consider to make
1 unit a 1x1 brick. Or use millimeters. LEGO is a european company. Bricks are
exactly 10mm in height. For all the scenes I make, I prefer to use the meter as
the base unit (Or millimeters for very small scenes or when creating a scene
from a technical drawing).

Just my two eurocents.

I know LUGNET. I discovered POV-Ray there!

There is an LDRAW to POV-Ray converter called L3P (update to L2P). I think
the images in www.antonraves.com are rendered with POV-Ray using L3P (I
think)

I'm trying to make the LEGO pieces in POV-Ray because the ones made by L3P
are basically made of triangles (and because I didn't know what else to do
in POV).

No, the lego pieces at www.antonraves.com are modeled completely in pov,
there is another project
with the name lgeo besides Antons that is used with L3P.

I started with l2p and pov 3.0, and I couldn't do anything else with pov.
one day I decided that I wanted my models to apear as if they were in a real
world, so I found a way to do other thigs in pov.

Have fun!

Bricks are not 10mm in height. A 1x1 brick is <5,6,5> 1/16 inches. Check
L_macros.inc. Plt and Brk give the size of two basic bricks to make
translations easy.

I'm currently working on 6126. I only made the exterior part by now.

Does anyone have a real *transparent* 6126? The inner parts are not too
difficult to do but I can't see them very well.
