Thanks a lot Ib! Your great model is very first contribution to the image.
We just have to age it (adding some textures) because the Cathedral is
more than 300 years old :) There are some close up photos of the dome
in the book 'London Rediscovered'. I'll try to prepare textures based on
those photos. If anybody else wants to participate in this process just let
me know.

If you can name the materials from photos I can give you physically accurate
materials. I think that we don't need detaljed textures until we get
lightning ready. Adjusting lightning requires setting all major
diffuse-reflecting objects to scene with correct diffuse reflection
surfaces. When lightning is ready we can add details if needed.

Remember that the painting is from 1795, so you just need to age it 120
years :)
My model and textures are actually based on photos of a (physical) model
of the dome. I have never tried to get it to look like the real building.

Here are some images which I found in my library. You can get
idea about real-life textures from it.

Yes we will apply some craquelures to fake the age :)

I also have that image in 'DK Ultimate Visual Dictionary'. But real stone
texture
(see my previous post in this thread) is more grey than yellow.
