As requested ... thanks to everybody that I've stolen the code from. No
names mentioned, nobody forgotten.
Come to think of it, the "diamond" looks more like a virus photographed
through an electronmicroscope. Since it's on tiles on a floor, maybe
it's a macrovirus? :-D

I saw an old movie, Sci-Fi of course, probably 3 days ago or less which had
alien viruses in the form of rocks when inactive and set on a shelf. Then
when they attacked they turned into softer spider-like things. I almost
mentioned it before but since these were dark, opaque rocks I didn't. But the
surface texture of them was exactly like this "diamond in the rough".

I am brand new to POVray and I tried to run this file. I downloaded and
installed the Moray and I put the megapov file in the bin directory for
PovRay 3.1. What I get is a script error saying that a numberic expression
is expected or something like that ... basically it seems to complain about
the words "unofficial".
I am totally confused.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that Moray works with Megapov.

check that the version of POV that is actually running is MegaPOV - check the
about box and or splash screen that opens when Mega/POV starts(the official
POV-Ray won't accept unofficial in a
#version statement but megapov will - due to it being an unofficial patch of
povray)

Here's what to do. In the folder where you installed POV-Ray, in the
'bin' subfolder, rename pvengine.exe to, for example, pov-official.exe
. Then get MegaPOV 0.5 and unzip it in the same folder ('bin') and
rename it to pvengine.exe . Now all your shortcuts for POV (and Moray)
will use MegaPOV. If you want to use the official version, just make a
shortcut to it on your desktop or Quick Launch bar (Windows 98).
That is, of course, assuming you are using POV-Ray for Windows.
