Very much better than the original. The web seems to be a little bit to
irregular IMO and the droplets a little bit to regular. Especially, at
the crossings of the strings the droplets should melt into another. An
POV image (with code) which could be critized in the other way round was
given by Franck Angella, IRTC 1998-06 (faweb). May be a mixture of his
and your approach would be best.
Best regards
Michael

Very good indeed. I am not entirely sure if the spider needs SSLT
though. The original spider looks a tad better, but then as you say,
more tweaking would be needed. In any case, very well done indeed.

I had not known the original, but the "remaster" is an awesome image. cheers.
(POV-Ray images (art) seem to be a little like waiting for the bus. you wait
for ages, then two come along at the same time :-))

Maybe just reducing the amount of translucency. Like maybe dividing it
by 3 or 4...

I kind of agree, the original spider looked better in some ways but as I was
updating the image thought I would try out SSLT again. The main purpose was to
re-render with HDR and some texture tweaks.
Now looking for further old images I can do the same to until I have time to
actually model something new.

I think if you do no SSLT on the body, and SSLT on the legs (if possible), that
would work out well. It is of course a bit difficult to directly compare the
two, given the vastly different lighting.

Another image to remaster (I must have been going through a spider phase).
The original image..

And the new/updated image with HDR (no SSLT this time).
I just love HDR ;-)
