It certainly gives the impression of a violent explosion. Well done and
with just under two days to go before you hit the deadline. Your other
render will be ready, too.

Thank you very much.

Here is the alternative image. With this one you cannot see the flaws (which are
still present). But it looks to less explosive IMO. If you have a suggestion
what to enter into the contest I will consider this.

Best regards,
Michael

(and I revealed the meaning of JF finally;-)

That is a hard one. I thought initially that the second one had nicer
clouds but I forgot that it is an eruption so the violence of the first
is more appropriate, I think. ;-)
Also the artefacts on the second are more obvious, to my eyes.

Never the less, very well done.

This one is closer to "reality". When you look at images of pyroclastic
flows you see that the ash+gas is /billowing/* outwards and downwards.
You do not /see/ the explosion, you only see the expanding cloud and its
travelling down the mountain side. Ascending from the crater is the
lighter gas+ash that is not trapped in the flow proper.

However, your image conveys the /idea/ of an explosion behind the flow
and that is the interesting interpretation imo.

Thomas

* Billowing means here that the cloud shows rounded forms generated by
the expanding force of the super-heated gas.

Michael, you still have some 16 hours. I suggest you upload one of the
images to the TC-RTC. They are too good to not make it there in time.
What problems still may be there are less important than the
participation of the selected work.

Thomas

For the collectors of ray-traced wall papers like me here is a version of my
last TC-TRC entry at a full HD resolution. I gained 8th place, which I didn't
expected. So, many thank to all the voters.

Best regards,
Michael
