Hello,
This relates to a query in p.g., and scene file in p.t.s-f.
I'm messing around with making a fake christmas tree macro, using glows as
the lights positioned on the ends of component cylinders, but the glows seem
to show through other objects..
I have a separate macro for making more realistic fake branches (heh..),
which is the second image below.
This probably won't work, because I've never used triangles, and using my
current method its very easy to suck up 2gb of ram, but I'm having fun with
it...so whatever...
Maybe someone has a nice small file using triangles that I might look at and
learn from.
Basic tree using test branches and no bifurcation: (blueStalk7.jpg is
closeup blueStalk7_3.jpg is distance)
Final branch structure: (blueStalk5.jpg) (allows you to specify twig
diameter and total height, not posted in p.t.s-f)
Bifurcation macro: (blueTree2k9_5.jpg) (a modified version of what
"quickfur" wrote on 2/5/07 for the shortcode contest, found in p.t.s-f)
Eventually I'll add a little bifurcation to the branches, with the branch
shown in blueStalk5 replacing the simple ones shown in blueStalk7 to more
accurately represent a fake tree.
I probably won't be able to render it with the glows on though. Heh.
When I'm done I'll use the same positioning macros that I'm using now, along
with a simple recursive tree macro (blueTree2k9_5.jpg) with low iteration to
create the bifurcated branches (consisting of the blueStalk5 object)
resulting in the final tree.
Again, nothing spectacular, just something to occupy my time out of work
with pneumonia.
Let me know if it sucks or anything! :-p
