Both IMO.

It is available at both
http://graphics.stanford.edu/data/3Dscanrep/
and
http://www.cc.gatech.edu/projects/large_models/
My strategy for getting it into POV-Ray was to import the GA Tech .ply model
into Blender, then use my own converter from .obj to mesh2, although you could
export a .obj file into Wings3D, then export it into POV-Ray. There's nothing
difficult about it; it just takes a couple steps to find programs that
import/export the right formats.

Sure is, if you got a nice broad connection!
The Stanford University Scanning Repository:
http://graphics.stanford.edu/data/3Dscanrep/
It's in .ply format, so you'll need a converter for .obj etc. I used
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/
but I expect there's plenty of other options.
Nice selection of images, although I rather think my tetrahedron test render
looks a little out of place... :)

It's a "Hall of Fame" after all, right? So I think it shouldn't matter *what*
they're famous for: Technical "strength", artistic beauty, or whatever.
I'm definitely somewhat biased towards the technical side (because it's just the
kind of stuff I love), but with that in mind, I'd actually advocate to put more
emphasis on beauty and concept than I usually do myself :)

I personally find the b/w shot more fitting; so maybe they should *both* be
included.

The important thing is that 'outside' models were accepted.
That's *good* IMO. :)

Erm yes, Janet's a PoV Star for me. Prepared to try anything and work hard
to realise her goal, and usually succeeds.
(Damn, that sounded like a school report!) Lol! :)

Why so much pain?
http://jmsoler.free.fr/util/blenderfile/fr/povanim.htm
Povanim is the povray exporter listed in the Blender resources pages. It works
nicely enough and is able to export even internal Blender textures as
image_maps or radiosity settings. Comes with its own graphical interface
integrated in Blender. I used it once for getting a ply model of the Standford
bunny into povray, after some adjustments to the mesh in Blender.

Good point. I guess just because I hardly ever use Blender, so I got it into
Wings3D quickly, then dealt with it. Thanks for the tip though. Might have to
check that out sometime.
