Sweet. It would be nice to see some reflections of the close-up
outcroppings in smooth water.

Surprisingly convincing, indeed! Not that I was against the rippled
water, but leave *some* of the lovely reflections show thru. :-)

Both versions are fine.

Both images are beautiful. I'm trying some landscaping at the moment, and I'm
nowhere near this yet!
I can't help but wonder if the ripples on the water aren't a little too large -
in wavelength, not amplitude - makes the landscape seem a little miniaturised?
Perhaps it's just me.

Really beautiful, indeed.
How long does programming such a scene take you?
Besides: do you have a webpage with some of your pov-ray artwork?

Beautiful. Lighting is a bit too hard, I guess.
Project Tierra? Landscape of the week? Or something from scratch?

Thanks!

It's hard to say how much time goes into a scene, since I tend to re-use
elements that took hours the first time I used them in some other scene.

Interesting that you should mention it. I own a domain that I haven't been
using, and I've contemplating creating a site similar to what others have done
with a gallery and tips, etc. For now you can see my deviantArt gallery at

Yes, I'd like to re-render it with an area light eventually.
> Project Tierra? Landscape of the week? Or something from scratch?
Well, project Tierra is aime Vives Piqueres' and landscape of the week is
Christoph Hormann, who are both far more advanced in this than I am. In the
past, I have tried to adapt their brilliant code, but in the end I decided I'd
rather do my own thing so I can at least understand it. I just work and think
differently, I suppose.
