This time I'm using real POV media (gasp!). The metal on the door actually has
emitting media inside as well to create the glow effect. I hope you enjoy!

nice looking!
I'm sure Sesshoumaru, half-brother of half-youkai Inuyasha, passed
through that very door to reach the underworld...

Nice picture, the stone/rock objects/textures look great (are they
isosurfaces?). I like the lighting and door as well, the only thing I am not so
sure of is the texture on the hinges/rivets I think the contrast between the
very black hinges then silver/white rivets is too much.
Nice work though.

Thanks! Yeah, lots of isosurfaces and heightfields in this picture.

Unrealistic, perhaps, but I think it adds to the whimsical feel which I was
going for.
Thanks,
Kirk

Nice work! I too feel that the rivets are a bit overdone, but if you are
happy with them, don't let that stop you :-)

Just what would you expect from a door that sits on the "edge of reality"? Such
a door will need to be made from real stuff and unreal stuff.

Thank you! Hmmm...it does kind of look like it when you look very close, but
no. That's a good idea though!
....
Speaking of people and 3D--is there a way to get people in my scenes without
paying hundreds of dollars? Maybe even something free, even if its not the
greatest quality?

You can use DAZ|Studio. It's got some basic models for free.
