Ok, so I've added some reeds around the lake, thickened the forest, and
improved the radiosity. I'm hoping for suggestions on making the landscape
a more "inviting" place.

It's already more inviting. The reeds and trees' shadows nicely hide the harch
water edge. The added trees make the scene more relaxed in my eyes.
Maybe adding some lazy clouds or some rock formations piercing the grass? Or
some animal half hiden in trees... As it will be partialy hiden and in the
shadows, it don't need to be very detailed.

very nice ..... i particularly like the way the lighting plays on the
mountains.

perhaps a picnic table and or some kind of campsite setting in the
foreground might do the trick.

Nice!
I'd play around a bit with the colors. (See attached image to see what I
mean.)

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions and comments. Here is my final
(maybe) render, in which I've changed the camera position and added more
detail to the landscape around the lake.

Very nice!!!
Maybe I would randomize the reeds somewhat more, bending them under a gentle
breeze...

High!
Are the trees in fact non-intersecting each other?
See you on www.khyberspace.de !

Trees in the forest intersect in reality, so I don't worry if they do here.
In fact, if they do, they just make a more interesting tree.

Beatiful pic. A few suggestions: I would add some bushes near the trees, you
don't have leaves on the ground. The grass is a bit peculiar: it is a very
light colour, suggesting it was taller and cut, yet the reeds are much
taller and much greener. But then I'm biased. :-p
