I had fun modeling my banjo with CSG primitives; it's a rather mechanical
instrument, and one of my other hobbies! Here's the WIP. I think I need
advice on the lighting & composition from other folks who have made
raytracings in the "single special object" category.

Looks great! How about some wear pattern to show it has been played?

Short answer: image_pattern with color_map. I'll try to post the source code
this weekend. Thanks for your critique.

Hey Richard,
Short is good. I'm sure others will find the code useful. I got my first
glimpse of POV years ago. Never did much with it except render the included
files. Found it again just recently and trying to give it a go.

Your subject is looking good. Of course I don't what you envision for your
final image. Might be good to compose your subject a little. Give it a home.
Wooden stool and scattered hay on the floor come to my mind. Window. Keep it
up.
Later,
Kenneth Hutson

Can't give you any advice but I can say:

WOW! Very impressive work!

I'm experimenting with daylighting my subject now. I first tried an area
light in a window, but it occurred to me that a very bright sky_sphere plus
radiosity would give more realistic results. I searched, and it seems this
technique has been posted and documented. Additionally, there's an
incandescent light nearby, generated with Lightsys IV (Thanks, Jaime).
Lighting is hard, I've decided. Thanks for the encouragement, those who
have written. I will post the source when I'm satisfied with it.
Richard
