I posted a version of the mantis model here several months ago. This
one is much better I think.

Brick wall is Gail Shaw's macro and the grass is made with SamualT's
grass macro. Plant and mantis modeled in Animation Master with lot's of
tweaking of the textures post-export. PP focal blur.

The only thing I would change is to make the flowers and grass appear more
translucent, with less black shadows inside the blooms.

    Otherwise I love it.

I know what you mean. I spent some time trying to get that look using
double_illuminate. So today I made a seperate flower to isolate the
problem. As it turns out, adding that statement to a union doesn't do
anything. It's working now, and using a low brilliance and high diffuse
makes it look nice and silky.

None of the green looks green enough.

I like! The texturing looks pretty good, and the setup puts the viewer in the
scale of the mantis.

Very nice - good use of focal blur. I agree with Steve that the greens
aren't quite green enough.

Cheers,
Ian.
