To give purpose to this post, I'll call it a "Color and Composition Study".
the focal blur was somewhere between the medium and high quality in Moray. I
don't know the specific settings.
but in the end, this is just a silly game that the spheres like to play when
we are not around. this is actually a video capture of my bedroom.

What's most curious is that the texture of the two large out-of-focus spheroids
is a cross-hatch pattern. So if they have the same general texturing as the
in-focus one does then it seems odd that the focal blurring brings out a
repeating pattern like that. The other looks fairly randomized.
And it couldn't possibly be a camera capture, too perfect.

I like the feel of this image a lot.
I had a second look and now see what Bob means,
Did you use exactly the same normal on the three
large spheres?

normal
{
granite , 0.075
scale 0.1
}
is what i used on all the spheres. The cross hatching seems to be enhanced
by the resizing from 1024x786 to 640x480, but it is noticable in the
original size.
thanks, i like the feel of this image as well, if I do say so myself.

I like it! I've been striving the last week to make images of this type
after Simon De Vet's "Circle, Circle, Dot, Dot".
The image is so _gentle._ No weird tricks, no advanced mish-mash, just a
good choice for colors and placement. And it only _suggest_ a game via the
title, if you see what I mean. Like "what do they do?"
Congratulations! _This_ is real CG-art, in my opinion.
Simen.

Why is this true? Is it due to the fact that the granite is only
pseudo-random? Is is really periodic with a small period?

Ha! Thanks. I was trying to do just that, *suggest* that a game might be
going on between the balls.
Calling this real cg art is a great compliment. thank you.
