Good. My problem: the sides looks to thin. All the nuts that I have seen have 
much thicker sides. Ether make the hole smaler or the body larger, keeping the 
same hight.

Thanks.  They are models after faucet shank nuts, which have thin sides and a flat
area in the rear
with a smaller hole through it.

I think the insides look amazing, and more work needs to be done on the
outside to make 'em look more metallic. Jaime Vives Piqueres has done a
nice 'bolts' render (http://www.ignorancia.org) with blurred reflections
AFAIR. Maybe you two should join forces ;-)

compression fitting nut then the end plate with the hole to take the pipe

hole should be a bit smaller. And a bit of scratching would not come amiss.
I would be interested to see the code for the isosurface.

the problem i had is that they don't look very good because the threads
don't have a rounded edge, so there is no highlight.

I really like the texture in the bolt rendering by Jaime.

Thanks Jaap, I remember them. I don't agree that they don't look good, I like
them. I'll keep the link for when I get some time to play with Iso's.
BTW I prefer the ones with the sharp thread.
