This is something I did a while back, but it took so long to render on my
old machine that I never got round to doing a decent sized image.
I was playing in a game called Swords Of THe Middle Kingdom (a pseudo
chinese OTT Martial arts movie inspired game) and one of the other
characters was a member of a sect which specialised in swordplay, and
used a longsword as his weapon of choice. This was my take on a chinese
longsword.
It's a mix of sPatch bits and CSG, and I know, texturing is not one of my
strongpoints... :)
Any comments will be appreciated, but bear in mind that this scene is
essentially done, as the game ended a while back now.
Bye for now,
Jamie.

It'd be good to see the blade. The rest of it looks very
good.

Your wish is my wossname.
This is the sword, sans scabbard, mixed in with another scene I did at
about the same time. Nothing fancy though.
I've sort of given up on using sPatch for blades now, since I've been
playing with doing a Gladius in pure CSG. Maybe if I get the inclination
to work on it some more I'll post it.
Bye for now,
Jamie.

Ooh, nice. Looks heavy.
The other objects on the table really compliment the sword.

Makes for an intriguing scene. I think it's worth pushing.

My fault actually, I got the scaling on the sword a bit wrong. I suppose
if Chinese broadswords looked like that it might be appropriate, but they
don't, so it's not :)
I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can get the scaling right. Of
course this is always a problem, since I never design objects to a fixed
1 unit = 1 whatever scale

Believe it or not, the other objects were an afterthought to another
object (a magically summoned war fan, my characters weapon of choice),
but they sort of turned into a scene in their own right.
But thanks for the compliment anyway <grin>
Bye for now,
Jamie.

Maybe if I get interested again, but like I said, the game it was sort of
designed ended, so I've not got a great deal of momentum going on it.
Besides, the sort of background it really needs would require me to watch
lots of Hong Kong Action movies and... Hang on, that's no hardship...
<grin> But I wouldn't expect anything soon, as it's likely to take
rather a while to get going on it.
Bye for now,
Jamie.
