We only know that it is *not Islay* :-)

Oh! dear. ;-)
I would say that St. Kiaran's is not in the form of a cross because it
is Church of Scotland. They do not hold with graven images or false
idols and that includes crosses. The exception is the cross of St.
Andrew (surprisingly enough). But then he was only a disciple.

That must be it as any trace of a planned additional transept is absent
from the stonework. I have drawn the wrath of God on me (or at least of
the local congregation) by my ignorant building frenzy. My only way out
is to sell the building to the Pope for 30 pieces of silver. ;-)

I was going to intercede by reminding them that you were a foreigner and
knew not what you were doing. But if you don't want to end up in a
wicker cage I would relocate to Harris. Where they still celibate Three
Kings Day as El Día de los Reyes ;-)

That is good to know. In the worst case scenario I always may be able to
steal a rowing boat at night to make the crossing.
Hmm. Maybe not such a good idea to go rowing... :-)

I could not resist ;-)
This is the state-of-the-art church model. It needs a couple more
improvements.

In the original church, there /are/ two nice stained glass windows:

so I feel in my right. Let the deil come. :-)
Holiday hoose? No. I am not travelling much anymore... except in the
mind of course.

oh, nice, the choir is on the south. I bet the light is better that way
with such small windows.
Yet the door is still facing west... after a 90° turn from the axis of
the church.
