The weather is good, so time to sail a bit on the river.
The ship is a model of the Kyrenia vessel, a third century BC Cypriot
merchant vessel, very appropriate to sail the approaches of Gancaloon.
The original model comes from the Taschen 3D Objects Collection but its
quality left much to be desired. I carefully restored it in Silo over a
number of years though it is not finished yet (uv-mapping, sails,
textures, etc...). It featured in an earlier version in my first
Gancaloon scene - Eavesdropping - back in 2006/2007. This is a preview
of the latest developments.

Ha! Bits and pieces here and there, slowly growing towards a
comprehensive goal... ;-)
I also want to model a dhow, but I shall have to start from scratch. I
shall probably start with the DelftShip program
(http://www.delftship.net/) to get a basic hull. It has been a very long
time since I last used it, so back to school once again :-)

I remember that you mentioned it before. I had difficulty getting

Yes. Neither have I got very far but that was with a difficult shape
when working on a 16th century hull. I may have more luck this time....
