Strata is a thinly veiled parody of/homage to Ringworld... although so well done
that you'd never notice unless you'd actually read Ringworld! But of course you
knew that. :)

(I think Pratchett's aliens are just as good as Niven's, both in Strata and Dark
Side of the Sun)

Dark Side of the Sun, I'll read that next, thanks. And you are right his
aliens are good.

Well... proceeding step by step I think that Discworld could be the next
interesting challenge (before writing the code of Ankh-Morpork
naturally!) ;-)

Wow. I never noticed that until you mentioned it.

Do you have a licence from the Patrician or are you a member of the
Guild of Povers?

We need to be members of the Guild of Povers of course. I can still feel the
pain from the red-hot iron handled by Thorsten, when he branded the logo
into my buttocks. :-)

LOL! I mean the fact that you model a Discworld topic.

Really? I am not that well known with the Discworld Series, but already in
The Colour of Magic (first book?) they are mentioned in the prologue...

I'm sure the Captain Carrot will intercede for us with the Patrician...

I believe that Marc posted a street scene of the Mended Drum in Moray
binaries a few years ago.

finished listening to Strata as an Audio Book and had forgotten

Strata was published two years before the Discworld series started. It
is set in a parallel universe very similar to our own. The main action
is set on a Discworld surrounded by a sphere of stars. Planets, a small
moon and small sun orbit it. It is an artefact and the elephants and
turtle are mentioned as part of a religion. (I've just finished
re-reading it. (I'm not a geek, you know ;-) )

Then we could steal code to use. :-)

That would be Thunderstone Strong-in-the-arm I presume?
