It started as an exercise in metal & rust textures and blurred
reflections by using various methods. While adding more 'machinery' it
evolved into something bigger and meanwhile even includes a Victorian
style part in the upper area of the city.
With this kind of scene I do not have a 'final' image in mind, it is
more the fun of creating a whole (small) 3D world and the master POV-Ray
file usually contains only hundreds of 'switches' to select one
particular camera view, change the time of the day, move objects around
(people, cars whatever), turn lights on/off and so on...
Those projects are also not meant to be ever finished, usually they
hibernate at some point (sometimes for years) but I awake them again
when e.g. my texturing or modeling skills have improved (or I have
simply upgraded my machine and more computing power available).
BTW is your irtc entry related to Michael Moorcock's 'Eternal Champion'?

Already there ;)
This view is just a particular closeup and most pipes and machinery (and
Victorian style dressed ladies & gentlemen) are just not visible.

I understand completely; sounds like a couple of projects I've had laying
around for years that occasionally get the dust blown off and polished up a bit
:)

Oh aye, without a doubt; MM's been one of my favorite authors since I was a lad.
My "Temple of Tanel'Orn" is just a very thinly veiled reference to Moorcock's
Eternal City of Tanelorn. Of course, with billions of similar universes
available to play with I can't let him have *all* the fun, LOL.
Actually, I'm leaning toward a Gran Bretanian steampunk theme for the next
round. I've been playing around with modeling Anachro-futuristic armor, energy
lances, and such; even started an ornithoper a while back. Who knows, maybe
Count Brass or even Hawkmoon himself will make an appearance :)

You shouldn't have mentioned this. Now I'll have to give
Steam Trek a try... :)

Ah, old memories. It's been a while since I did read MM. Maybe I should
do so again, but then, in most cases I was quite disappointed when
re-reading stuff I loved as a young person...

Great! Entreprise belching steam in space :-) Hurray for the SteamTrekpunk!
Going where no steam engine has gone before! (if my quotation from memory is
correct)
