IIRC around 2002  JRG posted on pbi an awesome watch with a scratched glass 
with a POV generated normal image_map.
But I can't find his post.

    I couldn't find it either, but I did find a ZIP file from JRG called 
'watch' in povray.binaries.scene-files:

That's it, I did not render it but the straight scratches image is the same

    I think I missed that one when it first came around! I wonder what JRG
