Thanks, I know of illusion.inc. I was actually curious
where this image required a compositing trick ;)

I'm also envious but comfort myself by the fact
that I at least didn't have to dream about this ;)

Had to comment cos it's such a nice render, if a little creepy ;-)
All your images have the same mixture of dreamlike quality and convincing
photorealism - whenever I see your name on a post I know it'll be interesting!

Keep it up

Oops, sorry about the misunderstanding!

1) I prerendered the scene using basic white textures and sky-dome-style
radiosity. This was to achieve an ambient occlusion effect.

2) The prerendered image was pasted onto the objects in the next render,
and a finish{reflection 1 metallic 1} was added to that texture. The
effect being that the objects' reflections were reduced by the shading
data from the prerender. (I hope that made sense)

Thanks! I'll try to spread what knowledge I have about these techniques
in the weeks/months to come.

Well, it's been called creepy several times now, so I guess I succeed
somewhat :)

TopNotch(c), Sam. That image is just excellent. :)

I'd love that as a hi-res for my desktop, but with a dark background and
just a spotlight playing on it?

I don't know, maybe if I'm feeling up to it...
