you've got me ;-)

i modelled the spectacles yesterday evening with the intention to make 
it look like somebody lost it (damaged and twisted). But it came out to 
clean (especially the texture) and I'd no patience (as always). The 
basic idea was to place it in an environment with grass, stones, etc.

The main focus was the (now poseable) model of the spider. So as I'd 
made it crawl over the spectacles I run several renders to test the 
setup, and thought this mostly clean setup would make a good desktop 
wallpaper.

But still it's a work in process .....

On the other hand, the spectacles could have just fallen.  No doubt 
caused by a reaction to the spider.

There are adaptive artefacts. Look at the triple pronged shadow of the leg and the
bright area 
inside the same shadow. You probably need adaptive 3 or 4 with an area_light aray of
33*33 or maybe 
65*65.
I like the cracked glass, very similar to some real life cracks I saw.

thanks to all so far,

I like Skip's interpretation of the image as an result of an 
arachnophbic reflex.
I'll make an updated version with all the minor corrections you all 
proposed.
  - adding the mising glass
  - adding missing glass splinters
  - improve the light setting (turn on adaptivety with higher grid 
resolution for the area light)

In this context:

- does somebody have a good idea how to add something like patina at the 
corners and the edges (and the part, where it touches the nose) of the 
spectacle frame and would look a greenish patina convincing ??
- would it help realism to add some more grainy texture to the glass 
were it is broken (right now it looks a little bit like slightly molten 
ice) ??

... hope I'll catch my flight on thursday morning so
