yes, but it's just beginning! wait a couple of seconds, and, well, you'll
never have to wait again :p

about the lighting part or the magic part? :)

yes, I'm not totally happy with it myself, but I'm not sure what's wrong :-/

:) wasn't really thinking of Iraq actually

Do you know about the ice cap that forms on top? You might try to
hunt down some descriptions from the Los Alamos experiments.

Some heat-ripplage on the background would be good, I think it would give it
a little bit of scale. Really, really nice, plus renders in only 10 mins(!)
I need to try aoi for smoke.
Beautiful.

wow! that's an amazing improvement over the last one. My only feeling is
that the top isn't dense enough.

that is one fine looking explosion.

ah, good idea, I'll try that

thank you :)

with AA and mosaic-preview, without that it renders in about 6'47" at
800x600 on an athlon 1.1GHz running Windows ME :)

Nice - looks small, but that's okay. Sort of like the nuke explosion in T3
when arnie throws the damaged power-pack out of the van...

the top is the most difficult part

:)
I really hope I can animate it

hmm, what is it that makes it looks small? The background?

I think mainly that I'm making an assumption about the scale of both the
background (mainly the mesa on the left), and the ground-objects.

Also, something about the smoke gives an impression of the scale.

I find it hard to pin it down exactly, but basically my brain keeps telling
me that it's about 80ft high...

You could try rendering it on a featureless plain and re-posting - that
might give an idea as to whether the assumed scale is a product of the
scenery or something intrinsic to the explosion.
