It's getting closer, but I'm having trouble getting the central core of the
spark to connect to the terminals, regardless of what size I scale the large
spark to.

The distance between the terminals is 24, so I'm already oversized here.

//The tight core, purple-white
#declare Discharge_Spark = object { cylinder { <-2,0,-13>, <2,0,13>, 1}
                                      hollow

I like that sign!

(ah, also, the spark looks nice...
Try with no light sources, radiosity
only? Could it be made into the
only light source in the picture ?)

Ah, nothing like a bit of humor. Is this 'Jacob's Elevator'? :) I love
it! All you need now to finish the scene is a stretched rope between two
posts (or some other form of blockade).

I'd like to, that's the next thing I want to solve, the spark dosen't seem
to emit light.
Ideally, they all should, though the image is becoming visually compelling
as is.

A marx generator.
For this to work right, you need a fast, powerful erection.
Erection in this context, is the process where the first spark gap (usually
the bottom) fires, and the UV light from it, triggers the ones above it to
fire. This puts all the caps in series, and does the voltage
multiplication..

While my unit has a modest working voltage (10,000V/Stage) the caps are
unusually large at 0.05uF (50,000pF) which means that a lot of energy will
be stored. About 50 Joules in this case, and released in a few
microseconds, which could mean about 5,000,000 - 10,000,000 watts peak
power.

Here's a guy who's done something similar.

I have one, I just turned it off. I think it makes the image "cluttered".

Dave,

I'm somewhat intrigued by your project, is this something
that would actually work in the "real world"?

If so, tell me (us) a little more on the subject (maybe
in "off-topic").

I tried googling for capacitor tower but didn't find much.

Thanks
