OK, this lake is somewhere approximately between Yosemite and San Diego.
:-) It used to feed water to LA (and may still, at a reduced rate)
before the decided it was too scenic to drain. I fear I was still
running on the lousy snapshot camera at the time.

In any case, for a sense of scale, it's probably between 5 and 10 feet
from water to the highest point on these "rocks". They're very crumbly,
like you'd expect basically sandstone made out of salt to be. And if you
visit, wear long socks.

Hey, thanks for posting.

So they are somewhere between San Diego and Yosemite..... was it Inyo
County, perhaps?

I've only had dreams of such rock formations.... Of course, in the
dreams, they are much bigger :c)

Were there lots of weeds?

Honestly, no idea.

Then you want to look into Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Those
rock formations are several stories high. Ever see the "Road Runner"
cartoons? When I was there, I kept expecting to see holes in the shape
of coyotes in the dirt.

Lots of swamp grass, but the ground was black with salt-loving insects.

That looks rather like the picture from Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were
Here", which was taken at some place called "Lake Mono".

Hey, you can't say that here without backing that with pictures :).
