It's too big to fit onto my desktop! But I'm sure you won't mind me
scaling it down :)

Congratulations on what appears to have been an arduous nine days. It
would have been an intolerable stretch for me, since I need my computer
for other things.

The tiny coloured lights do indeed look like stars; I didn't need to
read your description beforehand to figure it out.

Very, very nice.

There's something bugging me about the stars, however, if they're supposed to
be in the room, why don't we see more of them? If they're supposed to be
outside, visible through the arches, then, there are a few that are in front of
the columns that shouldn't be visible....

Where's Jupiter?

That's the idea. The stars are amongst the columns, or the columns
are amongst the stars, whichever way you want to look at it.
It's really my attempt to extend the basic ambiguity of a solar
system inside a room.

ahem...(embarassed cough) artistic licence?

Flattery gets you everywhere :-)

Nine days is nothing compared to the six months of evenings and
weekends I've spent on it since the original idea occurred to me.
However I'm just a Pov beginner so a lot of that was a learning
process, and a lot of things got thrown out.

Sorry, I was being pedantic. I was really just pointing them
out because I think they work well, but a number of my friends
at home and work didn't "get" them when they saw previous test
renders.

I did a quick search for that, fantastic artwork,
so thanks for the complement, but I don't think
I'm in the same league :-).

Thanks.
No Jupiter either. I started off trying to maintain some
correlation with the real world, but the picture didn't
seem to benefit from it, and getting just the most visually
interesting planets in frame meant that they could be that
much bigger and more detailed.
