I'd go. Just need enough advance notice to schedule vacation time. I'm on
the east coast (Cleveland area).

From here, a drive to NY, NY would be about 10 or 11 hours. If I could make
a 3 day weekend/vacation out of it, I'd probably be willing to go. Let's
just make sure that it's in the summer some time.

NY has a steamy sort of appeal in the summer. I've made that drive to
and from Ontario many times over the years. Where are you located exactly?

About 20 miles north of Lansing, MI, but still in the middle of nowhere.
;-) I'm 5-10 minutes from about 3 small towns, though, so it's not too bad,
really.

I've never actually been to NYC, so it would be an interesting (and
hopefully fun) experience.

For those of you who have never lived in Michigan, you really feel cut-off
from many of the other states, except for those on the southern border (of
Michigan). The quickest way out of the state (for most of us) is Canada.
Otherwise, you have two choices: North or South; and North is generally not
a good choice, unless you're going on vacation.

Actually there are at least half a dozen others on these groups that are
either in the city or within reasonable commuting distance. Whether they
want to come is a different story ;)

Regardless of where you choose, it will be a hike for someone. So choose
an interesting spot. If not NYC, how about the Wright Space restaurant at
the Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. ;)

IMHO the best times to visit NYC are in Mid October when the leaves are
changing, Mid December when the holiday season is in full swing, or the
late spring(May) before it gets too sticky.

Interesting. I guess we have to work on our "star power".

Yeah, the art scene comes alive too, and people *dress*. Still, I like
those steamy summer nights when everyone hits the street, 90 degrees
pavement, with the women in tank tops and high boots.
