Right, I figure I probably have only about 4 more days to work on this image
before the deadline ('cause I'll be away from my computer most of next week).

So, I need suggestions on what bits you think need work and what bits look good.

Also, do you think this image is on topic? The original idea was that the
waterfall and pouring drink looked like mirror images of each other, which could
only happen for that instant in time, but that idea seems to have got lost a
little in all the details I've been putting into the scene.

All comments and thoughts will be a great help in finishing this image.

Honest opinion Tek? I love the water pouring from the bottle. My
only problem with it is that 'if' you were to pour water with the
amount that's coming out you would have stopped/slowed down around
halfway, two thirds up the glass - that water imo is going over the
side as it is.

Also, if you had that amount left in the bottle, it probably
wouldn't pour like that anyway?

Generally? I love what you've done with the forestry (how did you do
that?) and I like the atmosphere of your image.

  Glass is too thin maybe?

   Just some suggestions...

Nice suggestions, thanks. :)

I've taken some liberties with the pouring water, the technique looks good but
it's hard to tweak to realistic circumstances, 'cause it's a julia fractal so I
have very little control over how far the bottle can be from the surface of the
water (if I lower the surface I have to scale the pouring water to meet it,
which then makes it look wierd). If I get time I'll try to replace it with an
isosurface or blob or something.

The forest effect was done out of frustration with trying to make tree meshes
work (see the rather lengthy conversation on povray.advanced-users). I
eventually gave up on the meshes and just created a lot of billboard trees with
a procedural texture.

Yep, that means all those trees are flat!

The texture is pov's spherical pattern with turbulence with a high lambda value.
I've used it as a normal map, which gives the really nice shading, and also to
cut out the shape of each tree. Each tree is mapped onto 1 triangle.

Oh and do you mean the thickness of the glass, or it's width?

Sorry Tek, I should say that I meant the drinking vessel, not the
bottle - that's good imo.

Oh I see what you mean, yes it does appear to be paper-thin in that render. The
reason for that is actually that I used no_reflection in the glass object, which
seems to mean you can't see the thickness of it at all!

I've fixed it now :)

I noticed a few things.

1. I think the waterfall is a bit rough. The ripples coming from the
splashes need more attention as they should be rounded And there is
probably a bit more foam and multiple disturbance points. Also there will
probably be a mist coming from the fall. Perhaps a spectrum effect like a
mini rainbow would be good?

2. I agree with the other post. The Water out of the bottle would be less.
Also again the wave in the glass should be more rounded. Perhaps some beads
of water from splashes on the side of the glass for detail? Also there
would be tiny air bubbles in the water.

3. The glass looks to be missing a bit at the bottom. Change the camera
angle or texture of the glass if this is caused by reflection.

4. The hand texture doesn't look quite right (close though!). Probably
needs to be darker and rougher... with hairs?

Good points.

1. In this render the top of the waterfall seems almost invisible, I don't know
what I changed that caused this. The ripples are just placeholders at the
moment, I'll put in some more realistic ones. Mist would be nice, I'll try that.

2. Hmm... I have to agree with you. If I get time I'll redo it.

3. I think this is caused by me accidentally setting no_reflection on the glass,
so when you look through it you can't see it. Plus I can't move the camera
because that breaks the symmetry between the pouring water and the waterfall.

4. The hand texture's actually 1 flat colour! I'm surprised how good it looks,
but that's the wonder of poser for you :) I've got uv mapper so putting some
details on should be straight forward.

So, if I can I'll address all these points :)

Thanks

Superb. Combines actual photorealism with

Good stuff! But water never runs out of a bottle this continuously. There
has to be an "opening" somewhere (in the bottle or in the water stream) that
allows air to fill the space in the bottle that is left by the water. In
most cases this causes the water stream to be kind of chaotic and
bubble-like.
