Hi all.
Yesterday I began working on this.
It's an sculpture made by Eduardo Chillida called "Tolerance's
Monument" and it's placed in Seville (Spain).
Model is made in hamapatch. Girl is a poser one (dressed up,
I'm sorry for that, IMBJR ;-) only to give the right proportions
to the sculpture.
Rendered using radiosity.
Now it's time to work on the textures.
Just wanted to share it.
Bye

Nice. CSG or mesh? And who doesn't have a sculpture they've been
tempted to trace, eh? There is a beautiful, simple piece by Jean Arp
over on the NYU campus that I have had my eye on.

This is nice!
I don't know the original ;-) but I think a rusty texture could make a
good look.
Is it some radiosity artifact or do you can see the mesh on the right ?
(smooth triangles?)

the time so it got abandoned, but I think it's time to start work on that
again...

For those who don't know the original sculpture, here are 2 snapshots.
The one with the woman is the original one from Seville. It's made of
concrete.
The other is the another version (I think) that was exposed in the Tasende
Galley
in the Los Angeles. Sure there are other versions smaller and turned upside
down.
(I think I saw an iron one in the Guggenheim exposition, or maybe in the
Bellas
Artes Museum, both here in Bilbao).
Anyway, Chillida is a good option to feed your soul's hunger. There goes
some links:
http://www.eduardo-chillida.com/en_principal.htm (in english)
http://www.telefonica.es/fat/echintro.html (the Telefonica collection also
in english)
http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu/smithsonian/issues00/jul00/chillida.html (a
little page in english)
http://www.el-mundo.es/especiales/2002/08/cultura/chillida/ (in spanish, but
worth to see)
Sure you can find more if you google a bit.
Bye

Take a look at my response to my own message.

It's a bicubic patch, so no meshes here (except for the poser girl).
But you are right. I had some problems closing the patch, so this is
a bicubic patch artifact.

Hey, looks like you got a pretty close approximation! (Well... the girl is
nicer than the old hag in the photo ;-)

Andrew.
