This is a very intriguing picture.  The enigma of it draws the viewer 
in.  Technically there are a lot of interesting and hard to achieve 
elements.  The flow of the woodgrain on the table-stem and the play of 
the belt and cloth at the figure's waist are my favorite moments. The 
texture of and the pose of the dog, my least favorite.  The animation of 
the human figure is terrific!

they are internal functions using helix1 and helix2 from functions.inc.
with the candlestick i used a blob between a sphere and a helix.  hope that
helps a bit.

nah im afraid not.  was just the standard poser 4 man.  the only bit i
changed was his face to try and give him a 'weathered' look.

I fixed it.. I'm sorry.. we got a new computer and the timezone was setup
