I have a much nicer superellipsoid tile if you want it- here is a brief clip
of how it looks.

Cheers!

The corners on your tiles are much too round. The grout could use just a
little color.

Following up with a plain ceramic tile concept, here is a simple shot that
illustrates how simple tiles and grout can look pretty good with very little
code. If I put radiosity in this scene, it might be somewhat convincing. Of
course, I would have to add the shower door and do a couple of other things, but
it might be worth it.

Cheers!

When commenting on the roundness of the tiles, I was referring to
Lieut_Data's and not yours. Your tiles look very convincing. Are they true
superellipsoid objects intersections. They look like intersections to me,
but I haven't messed with se much.

Oh, I knew that; sorry if my posting was confusing.

    Thank you!

Yes, they are. I used an exponent of 2 for one of the arguments, driving

expect. It will still have the rounded edges, but the corners will be square.
I just slice the top off, scale and rotate, and use that as my tile.
For the mildew, I used a bozo pattern and put a couple of narrow color_map
entries in it to make the appearance of the troublesome growth. That was
applied to the grout. The water droplets are blobs with ior=1.4, but I am not
satisfied with the results. I will probably redo this with photons, just to see
how it will look.

Cheers!
