Great scene!

I was going to suggest you to try using meshes for the seaweed instead of
sphere sweeps, as I believe it should speed up the render time
substantially. Last time I used sphere sweeps I was surprised of how slow
they render.

Also, I don't like very much the spherical bubbles. As others have noted,
bubbles going upward in water tend to have a "jellyfish" shape.

Other than that, it is a very well done scene. Congratulations,

Fernando.

FYI, I think the bug you're talking about is finally fixed for the next
beta. :-)

Oh good =)

If it's the "photons make the scene too bright" bug, then that's the one,
but I found a workaround by increasing the gap between the surface of the
water and the actual media.

BTW, when is range_divider going to be documented? It's just sitting there
in the documentation, teasing me... it probably does some silly useless
thing, but I keep wondering if it holds the solution whenever I come across
photon problems =)

Though big bubbles are not at all spherical in real world because they drift
up swiftly and get kind of jellyfish shaped :-)

Well... *my* bubbles are *magical* ones. =)

WOW. I like. Looks real enough to me apart from the bubbles as others
have commented. I'd like 'em more silvery with less contrast. What
seaweed? Can't see any but guess a gamma tweak (my monitor is still
cold) this end will show it.

It sorta got lost in the jpeg compression, but most of it is in the lower
left...

Great pic. The formation of the fish seems very natural and fluid. I'm not
crazy about the bubbles, but that horse has been kicked enough times.
You could probably use a faster method for the seaweed, as it is not very
visible. You could try a mesh or my cheap sweep macro.

Indeed it's Your image and Your choices :-), realism is definitly NOT the
only target we have to aim to.

Mmm... the fish are all swimming around a certain point in a circle, with
their vertical tilt defined as a sine function of the angle that they're in
in that circle. I realized too late that the insides of the transparent
parts of the fish have an ior of 1, making some of the fish refractive. I'll
fix that if I do another version.

I'm not really too worried about the speed of the seaweed; it's really
unnoticeable given all the media and photons. I doubt it makes any more than
a half-hour difference out of the 40 or so hour render.

If I do another version, I'll consider fixing the bubbles for everyone =)
