Nice. :) I suppose it's Jack Daniels, since you're having ice in it... ;)

But where's the shadows? How did you do the lightning? IMO the image looks a
little "flat" because of the lack of shadows. But that's just me.

Actually, it is a sad Brazilian sport to spoil perfectly good 12-years
scotch whisky by serving it "on the rocks". I myself am not a whisky
aficionado, I just picture it as I see it.

I have radiosity turned on, and it sort of kills the shadows. The next step
is to shoot some photons at the scene, and for such, I'll probably have to
turn radiosity off. That'll provide some shadows, I expect.

Why? If they are "offended" they can look elsewhere.

That's just what I meant. :) Jack Daniels is a horrible Tennessee whiskey
(well actually it's so bad it's Bourbon) which become less horrible if you
serve it with ice. (You know, ice mildens the taste, and in this case, the
bad taste.)

Simen.

really nice tiles!!! I can't wait seeing the photon version...

Just one litlle criticism: your ice cube looks more like glass than ice :-(

Doing it right now. Renders like it's dead, though. Might take a while. Oh,
and thanks. It may be a little menial to focus on tiles, but I must admit I
like to design them. If I have the patience, I'll probably try to add some
Escher to my next floor.

Good call, I think so too. I tried several settings, but to no avail. Any
ideas on how to a get realistic ice cube?

You could try including something to approximate the small air bubbles
you usually get in ice cubes...

I don't know whether you'd be better off doing this by differencing out
lots of tiny spheres or by using a media in the interior, but it may be
worth thinking about.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Nice image - but I think the ice cube has to 'stick' more out of the whiskey
... I will do some tests tonight!

Now that you mention it, you're quite right. If I recall my physics
correctly, the density of water vs. the density of ice (and considering the
density of air along the way...) should push 1/10 of the ice cube up above
the water, same as with icebergs.

I did some extensive testing the other night, the difference is not very
noticable. You might want to make some minor adjustment, but in gerneral you
are fine.

There is of course the question if the type of Whiskey makes a difference.
To make a more scientific correct analysis I will need a broader sample of
test liquids! If you want to help with this study please sent your selection
of Whiskey my way!
