Though quite a simple object, I'm quite proud to be sitting in front of this
image - when, while only knicking the drum off my Dad a few hours ago (and
most of that was rendering!). Modelled in Rhino and rendered in POV, all
textures are procedural. Comments and suggestions? I plan to expand it to
a full drum kit.

Nice, but the marks should be more concentrated in the centre of the skin
from what I recall of such things.

But I like the texture on the wall of the drum.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Good modelling. For the curved top and bottom metl portions (see pic), did
you sweep a curve along a path or are those lofted?

These are actually lofted curves (hence they have no thickness, I haven't
figured that out yet). When I first saw the drum, I scanned it for any
difficulties - seeing the bent metal rim as the primar problem.

I went away and made a completely out or proportion one to see if it can be
done with lofts. In simple terms it is 2 circles and a circle with lots of
bits added to them that I raised (the raised bits were 'polar array' and
then joined) - I like finding objects that I think I can't do, it gives me a
real challenge.

Nice, i'm looking forward to the complete set.

The metal texture should be improved though, it seems too white and should
have some reflection of course.

Done.. it wasn't easy (I did it all procedurally using layers - I also
included the black ring) as you can see.

Pretty. Maybe it's just me, but the black ring looks like it's hovering
a small distance above the sking...

Bye for now,
     Jamie.
