Here's the second wip of my glass tree thing, I lowered the camera and
cleaned up the media. I haven't yet increased the samples to help save on
render time since improving the scattering media was such a large hit on my
render speed. As always I'm open to suggestions

Does the light really come from above rather than from inside the glass tree's
top? If the first, then I wonder about the large highlight on the tree-top
while the ground below is hardly lit at all...

Both actually, the light "beam" around the glass tree isn't really intended
to light the tree up, it's there to help give the scene more atmosphere. The
tree itself actually "emits" light. The method I used for this effect was
emission media and with media attenuation on for the light source causing
the beam diminishes as it passes both through the tree and the atmospheric
media causing the beam itself.
