I'm not sure if heteroMF is suited for water at all, but how did you come
to these values. Have you tried some different settings?
In the picture it also seems to have a very fine structure, maybe some
larger horizontal scaling would help too.

These are the same values i use very often (also used in my water
tutorial) I recently also tried:
function{"ridgedMF",<0.07, 2.2, 7, 0.6, 0.9>}

They were tha same values I used for rmf except the last one. That
I guessed. Problem is I don't understand what the parameters do. I've
read the mega helf several times, but it doesn't really help.
I'll try some other values when I get time. That pic took 4 and a half hours
(Over twice what RMF took)

Thanks, I'll give that a try. If I change the water material to a
solid pigment it might render fast enough for some experimentation.

Just saw i already posted these to p.t.s-f.
For heteroMF maybe try:
function{"heteroMF",<0.8, 2.3, 7, 0.2, 0.5>}
and a larger scaling (~*6)
of from a megapov sample scene:
function{"heteroMF",<1.0, 2.0, 5, 0.0, 0.0>}
