I'm working on a few metal textures.
The last one is somehow experimental (it uses a color_map with 200 random
color definitions).
Any comment?

Jonathan.

Very impressive. Some of the best metal finishes I've seen. I like the
first one and the two last ones.

I think that the edge of the rusty parts in the second image should be
sharper

What are you planing to do with those beautiful metallic spheres?

Alberto.

Yeah. The normals and finishes were very photo-realistic, I was amazed.

Yes, but they seem all to have quite similar normals and finishes. I
think the last one was the best, but that's maybe because the color of
the first one is not of any real metal I have seen. Somewhere between
brass and gold, I think. A bit too warm color, I think. I have to say,
that I do not own too much big color objects so that I could check it
out, however :-).

Very realistic. How did you orient the rings around the plane?

Since you enjoy it, I've decided to post the code in the
pov-text-scene-files group.

Wow, very very realistic!

I think the rusty one needs sharper transitions, like Alberto said.

The penultimate has a hint of that fantasy Riveny soft glow. It could be a
nice pewter (been a while since I've had a look, but they use it invariably
to make collector metal game pieces... silver-lead-tin alloy or something
like that, right?)
