I used focal blur on this one not real heavy though. I know the golfball
looks like shit but I'm working on it.
I still think the grass looks great (I 'm going to make it a darker green).
I think I need to make the grass stand up a little bit more other than that
I think it's perfect. I don't know what to do about the gball I was thinking
maybe blobs bbut I don't know. I will attach a real life pic that I took in
my yard of a gball( a far cry from golfcourse turf but you can get the idea
of the ball i'm trying to make). This pic took 4h32m on a 1200mhz AMD.
Anyway comments welcome.

I like the grass, but I don't know, is that a realistic grass height for
even the green. Seems the golf ball looks a bit massive at the moment.

Nice, but i would suggest some (blurred) reflection for the golf ball and
not using the same color for sky and light source, that would make the
coloring less uniform, like in the photo you posted.

Most greens are cut at 3/16 's of a inch. I'm not for sure about the fairway
height.

Try a blob, with negative blob components for the dents,
that'll give you a real smooth transition between the
flat part of the ball and the dents, probably good to
use a cylinder for the negatives.

That's some fine grass. I would expect the blades to be somewhat bigger
by comparison with the golf ball.
If you don't mind using a model you didn't create, you might want to just
borrow the golf ball code from my web page (URL below) and modify it as
necessary to fit your scene.

I think it looks very much like "artificial grass"...more of a carpet,
actually. The blades look a lot like short plastic strips.

I just realized that the word "fine" could be taken two different ways.
I meant it to be the opposite of coarse.
