did somebody mumble that it would be impossible to get the tracks to line
up?

every component modelled (except the activity lights & RJ45 socket), in the
exact right place

trying for the fabled photo realism :))

Wow - is this real? (as in "not real"). The cry of "orsum rolix" is shaking
the bars of its cage. Amazing. Howdjadoit?

Wow! Amazing.
I would have thought that it's a photo except for one thing, the shadow on
the white surface is too sharp.

Um I can't make out the writing. What kind of card is it? Anything I could
use on my PC? :)

I'm beginning to think it's actually a photo. Unless the code is posted...

I don't think anybody said anything about trouble lining things up...

Looks very photorealistic. There is some radiosity smudging beneath it,
and the white connector on the right looks odd, but a nice job of
modelling. The board itself and the markings on the components are
image_maps, right?

I'm still not sure. The ground has the telltale splotchy color of a
radiosity pic with not enough max_trace_level, but it could just be dirt
on the table, very, very evenly distributed dirt.

Amazing. Great work.

I remember someone saying on this group that it would be nice if some
program could get circuit schematics as entry and output code to render the
circuit board in POV-Ray, with (or without) components included. Maybe you
wanna help? :-)

I did a much larger render, but decided to post something smaller till I
have got it finished

its a 3com 3c905b-tx, and this particular card is pointless, it corrupts the
data it sends and recieves and lack of windows crc checking, means you just
get knackered files. hence i have it around..

Great image. Very well done and very realistic. I would like to
quible howerver with the use of the term "photo" realistic.
Photographs are not particularly realistic, and I don't see
artifacts in your image (ie. lens flare) that suggest it was made
with a camera. It is better to strive for real world "realism"
not images as distorted by being captured on film through
a lens. So let me praise you work by saying it is more than
"photo" realistic.

Damn good!
There's some splotchiness though, you should rerender and up the rad settings.
