I don't know if anyone is interested, but Babel Fish says that
of glasswork it is,
and doppelfederhaus means double spring house literally, and must refer to
how many springs the
watch has - a main spring and another for the alarm, which apparently has
several settings
between simply ab (off) and auf (on).

Ha ha! Hey I like that one, if only in concept, anyway :-)
Not one you'd let the batteries fail you at a bad time.

I see what appears to be an included sky texture from POV-Ray reflecting off
that, otherwise I would have thought this to be a file from some website of
animated GIF's ;-)

The ab-auf hand is the power reserve indicator. "Doppelfederhaus" is
"double barrel", meaning the watch has a double mainspring barrel.
Don't ask me how/why I know so much about expensive German watches :P

Guilty as charged ... I do mean to do something with my POV Ray page, but
the IRTC seems to get in the way.

The advantage of the double mainspring barrel is that with most spring powered
clocks the winding and the power for the clock are taken from the same side of
the spring. Therefor the clock is not powered during winding so it can loose
some time. If a clock has a double mainspring barrel that means the clock is
so accurate the effort to fix a fractional second error is worth it.

Its a power reserve indicator for the mainsprings.
