Hi,
So maybe the scene isn't finished but thought I show what my media clouds
looked like in a proper scene casting shadows. Low quality radiosity was
also used. I could do with a few ideas of what to put in the scene. Also the
sand isn't too great just some noise3d and a plane, could do with some RMF
and a different color for the underwater sand. Also I came across a strange
artifact when the sand was a bit further away, not sure if it was to do with
the noise3d and transparent surface intersection problem, was that ever
fixed. Plus the water needs changing from a box to an iso. So much to do, so
little time...........
I shall investigate further into the artifact now that the scene has
rendered.
Render time 2h 40min on PIII-667.
Comments more than welcome, and some ideas would be nice.
Cheers
Kev

It looks quite good, but the water is much too bright IMO. some fading
interior would be good, also the ground is probably darker below the water
where it is wet.
It's not easy to get a hint where the light source is in this picture,
neither from the clouds nor from water and ground. This seems somehow
unnatural to me.

Pretty... but the clouds seem a bit fuzzy to me, like out of focus or
something... Can you sharpen them somehow? Can you put some clouds higher
than others (as in RL)?

The sand beneathe the water and probably some way up the beach needs
to be darker that the dry sand above. As it is the water seems to fizzel
out stangely as it meets the beach, but that should be sorted out by
fixing the sand colour.
The clouds look asthough the image has really suffered from jpeg, but
there's no evidence of that in any other part of the scene, so maybe
back to the drawing board with the clouds.
Looking good so far, keep us posted.

The water should be 'twice as dark'. I was triying to loo at the artifact
and made the water madia a bit less dense and forgot to remove the *0.5,
oops. Also I need to add the color_map to the sand.

The light source is behind and to the right of the camera, maybe a beach
umbrella or something would give an indication, also the water being a bit
darker should help.
Thanks for the comments

The clouds are just a scattering media in a box so placing individual ones
at different heights wouldn't be possible, well maybe it would, or do you
mean another cloud layer entirely?

fixing....

The clouds fuzziness depends on when the turbulence is applied, i.e. before
or after scaling or inbetween different scalings. I'm working on what would
make in look right at the moment. I should be working, oh well, the boss is
away :)

I suspected that's how you were doing it, but I'm also challenging you to
take it to the next level. If you can randomly distribute some clouds into
higher and lower "planes", then it would make it that much more realistic.
:) I've thought that maybe bounding the media with a noise3d isosurface
could do it, but would make it slower. Can you think of any other ways to do
this?

That's why he said that the scene wasn't finished yet.

Some of the replies tell you that the water doesn't look right or that the sand
isn't realistic but they totally missed the line where you say that the scene
isn't finished. It looks great so far.
