I thought AL's old CSG face wasn't flexible enough to show various
expressions. So I made a new one with bicubic patches.
This is my very first experience with bicubic patches. As always with my
work, no modeler was used - it's coded straight in POV-Ray's own editor.
I'm very satisfied with how the mouth has turned out. The rest of the head
causes me some problems, and it's still a work in progress.
Anyway, I couldn't wait to show you AL's new head as it is so far - so
please comment! :)

I really like the smiling versions... they remind me of a
computer-rendered version of the Aardman Animations facial expressions!
(Aardman does Wallace & Gromit, et alia)

Very nice - the texture looks more interesting as well. Is this a change or
just a bi-product of switching to meshes?
Are you going to be able to morph between different expressions easily?

How did you manage to make it so similar? Also, did you change the texture?
It doesn't look quite the same. Good work. It's good to see him so
expressive. Animate, animate animate! :)

Whoa, faces! O.O
That's pretty cool, but let's see him animated. :)

Very impressive.
I'm curious about how you did it with bicubic patches. Apparently they're very
suited for this type of thing.

This is very very very cool. I'd like to know specifically how you did this...

The bicubic pathes are smooth. I changed the texture.

Yes! :)

Similar to the original CSG version? Oh, I forgot to tell, actually the back
part of the head is still a CSG chunk from the original head. I just made
the patches match the CSG somewhat closely. It does cause problems though,
so I might do the entire head in bicubic patches, except the eyes.

Yes.

Thanks!

Wait, wait, wait! :)
Lip synch is a difficult thing to do...!
