They got a name? Never realised that... :)

how about some paper rumpled (hope that's the right word), so that it
looks like a ball? Like the ones you are throwing in your paper bin...

greetings
Florian

Neither did I.

That would be a challenge.
I think it could be done as a parametric surface.

I just made one from isosurface using a crackle pattern to see if it could
be done convincingly at all. Plus a meteorite too. Have a look-see.
Does anyone think these could be added? I'll post the scripts (along with
tiny file for paper image map) anyhow in the thread at p.b.s-f. whether or
not. I've already test rendered them on the shelf so they fit okay. Not a
whole lot of time spent on these.

Really cool,
should be incorporated in POV example scenes when it's finished maybe ?

Shouldn't the wood burn with the flame so close ?? :-))

Well you've gone and inspired me! The attached image is wire globe (based on
my IRTC 'Sea' entry http://www.irtc.org/ftp/pub/stills/2000-08-31/asl.jpg).
The land mass is an isosurface generated by wrapping a height-field on a
sphere. This mechanism was originally posted by Gilles Tran and he has more
details on his website
(http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/sources09.htm).

Source posted in p.b.s-f.

Nice, IMO needs to contrast with the wood more.
